Some affectionately call it the “racing tractor”, as it combines sporty dynamism with enormous torque of 390 Nm. Rudolf Diesel would have had fun with the 190 HP (140 kW) strong “off-spring” of his invention. He would certainly never have thought it possible that the diesel engine could reach 100 km/h in a 7.1 second sprint. A top speed of 230 km/h and plenty of steam in all seven gears – that is how ABT Sportsline defines..think it’s ridiculous that North Americans still haven’t warmed up well at all to the idea of hatchbacks, no less a premium hatchback. This has to be a reason for the need of small sedans like the Fiesta and now the A3, although they aren’t in the same class obviously… why? I think hatches are fantastic. So, basically, Audi will create A3, which will be the same size as A4 a few years back, because A4 grew to the size of A6, which is now the size of A8 that enlarged to the size of a stretch limo…Why don’t we just stop growing vehicles beyond their respective classes?
For power ABT extracted even more juice out of the standard units in order to match looks with performance. So the baseline 1.4 TSI which normally comes in at 92kW (125hp) has been increased to 118kW (160hp). Audi produces a standard 118kW (160hp) 1.4 TSI as well but that is puffed up to either 125kW (170hp) or 140kW (190hp) depending on where in the power band it starts in its normal life. ABT says fuel consumption and engine reliability have not been affected by these power increases.
